It was cool to look and see how pinball machines had evolved over the years. ![]() They also had several older pinball machines (some as far back as the 1930s) that were display only. Above each machine was a sign that told you a little bit about its history and when it entered the market. Fantastic!! I loved the Creature of the Black Lagoon pinball machine, but the Elton John one kicked my butt! The Addams Family one was a HOOT, and they also had fun ones that were themed with different rock bands. You pay a flat fee to enter, then play pretty much everything for free until you decide to leave. ![]() Basically, they have 80 pinball machines and vintage video games inside. I LOVED this place! It opened at 2 p.m., and I was there about 10 minutes before that. We spent 3.5 very happy hours there, and would recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a fun afternoon doing something in Asheville other than Biltmore! If you’re going on a Sunday, line up around 12:45 for their 1 pm opening. Jimmy, the cool dude behind the bar, is friendly, engaging and plays a wild keyboard called a melodica that he blows into. Plus, a nice selection of Asheville brews (as well as soft drinks) kept our whistles wet - because pinball is very thirsty work! The owner, T.C., is incredibly knowledgeable about pinball machines and video games, and is always looking to upgrade machines and include more memorabilia. ![]() If I’d been plunking in quarter after quarter, I would have spent much much more on my Sunday afternoon visit with my pinball loving hubby. All of the machines have cards above them containing information about their manufacturer, their production history, and what makes them significant, but the joy is having unlimited play for your reasonable $15 admission tab. There are 40 fantastic pinball machines and 40 video games - and they never allow in more than 80 people at one time - so everyone always has a chance to play. Even for people like me who didn’t grow up playing pinball machines and video games, Asheville Pinball Museum is an incredibly fun experience.
